We travel to the superb setting of Mycenae, one of the most evocative archaeological sites of the world – part of the Unesco World Heritage List – and taste the exceptional Nemea – Agiorgitiko wine which is adorned by myths. This place and the wines from this place are as ancient as any in the world, perhaps more so and yes…this is indeed the land of Hercules. We furthermore visit Nafplion, the first capital of Greece and one of the most elegant and romantic cities in the country currently. The beautiful old city has a wealth of narrow alleyways and a lovely seafront promenade but the best is perhaps just watching the sun coloring the bay an ecstatic red. The road leads us to the ancient theater of Epidaurus, a one-of-a-kind archaeological site famous for its symmetry and incredible acoustics.
We reach Monemvasia, an exceptionally well-preserved medieval castle well hidden from the land. The unique ambiance of the castle offers the visitor a journey back in time, a benchmark for his traveling experience. Our next destination is Diros Caves, their beautiful shapes formed by the stalactites and stalagmites make a fantastic spectacle as you travel a subterranean river length of 1,600 m.
Ancient Olympia, the sanctuary of Zeus and birthplace of the Olympic Games, hides amazing antiquities and a landscape of great natural beauty. It is magically beautiful at sunrise, the light of the low sun like liquid gold beaming through the cypress trees. You will be fascinated by Kalavryta with its fir-covered slopes, famous monasteries, and vertiginous Vouraikos Canyon which is among the Global Network of Geo-parks and a geological monument of world heritage. You can admire this natural richness by enjoying a magical journey with the cog railway.
We touch the unfolding beauty of Ancient Corinth, surrounded by fertile plains and blessed with natural springs, and then we reach Loutraki, the oldest bath city in Greece dating back to antiquity and the favorite city of the Gods. Finally, we dive into the kalos of the Temple of Hera, a magnificent unspoiled place of tranquility and spirituality, before we head back to Athens.
